​This Lego Blocumentary is a very nice look into how Lego can inspire a designer, but what I like more was being able to look at how Aaron Draplin of Draplin Design Co. catalogs his reference material.

There are many shots in this video of Draplin’s inspirational material in drawers of stickers, postcards, metal product labels, pins and more. It is a good reminder that every designer is building on what’s been done before and taking it to the next level.  So the more inspiration you have on hand, the faster you can find that one thing that you want to push to a higher plane of design existence.​
