
I just learned about Cinder and Open Processing today which are both open source interactive programming languages that allow users to share code, snippets, modules and routines to more easily create incredible interactives that use touch, proximity, movement and other cues to activate some amazing graphics. Audi’s Urban Future (see video below) uses the Cinder platform.
Ice Angels, which I have highlighted before, also uses Cinder and I love that they talk about using the “tracking module, the wing generation module, and the wing design module”. They make it sound so simple and plug and play!
The open source attitude makes it open to everyone to create touchscreens, interactives and apps for a variety of platforms and they seem to be operating system agnostic. Looks like a nice summer project to dig into these!
Cinder looks a little more robust in interfacing with people, but open processing (as you can see below) has some really cool algorithms.
