It’s time to rethink the grommet! Why do we always try to hide it or match it to the countertop color? Instead, why not glorify it as Herman Miller did with this Desktop Power Outlet?

By turning it into a design detail, Herman Miller simplified the ability to plug in an item by placing it on the desktop.  There’s another one that allows for a networking cable, but it is not nearly as clean and compact.

These may not be perfect for exhibit applications, but it begs you to ask, what can I do besides a grommet that makes the design stronger and improves the functionality and simplicity of installation?
