A couple new sites have sprung up that use machine learning to design logos for cheap (and sometimes free)! Of course I ran a couple of tests and you get what you pay for. Design Rails uses machine learning to ask some interesting questions to help its digital elves craft a free logo for you.

What is interesting here is the actual process and the questions the system uses to narrow its results. For gathering client information, there may be some valuable tools here that help guide a client through the process of refining their own look.
Withoomph is similar, but not free. It asks for you to enter your own keywords and seems to like physical terms (flower, car) as opposed to subjective and ambiguous terms (bold, edgy) because it can find a piece physical piece of art much more easily than processing a subjective term.

Neither one spit out anything earth shattering (but both sites let you go back and tweak your logo), but it is the process behind the logo generator that has some potential to drive the questions we ask when developing a client brief.
