And it is just an amazing sight to see. It’s not just that the forms are beautiful and catch the light in a stunning manner, but watching the machine in action is mesmerizing.

In partnership with the MIT Glass Lab, the Mediated Matter group at the MIT Media Lab has produced a way to 3D print glass, and brought an over 4,000 year old process into an ultra modern fabrication technique. A two-chamber process heats the glass above and then moves it through a nozzle into a lower chamber where it slowly cools to avoid internal stresses.
