The Disney master animator, Glen Keane, is responsible for brining to life iconic characters like Aladdin, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. For The Future of Storytelling Summit he shows off his latest experiment, using VR goggles to draw in 3D space.
Watching him move as he draws and describe the benefits of drawing this way is fascinating to watch. Animators have to always be thinking in 3D to understand how a character drawn with 2D lines will changes as you rotate around the character (or as the character rotates), But using the Google owned Tilt Brush 3D painting app, Keane can actual see and draw the character in 3D space.

There’s a lot of good ideas here for drawing and presenting rough concepts in 3D to clients.
