Concept and Prompting
Mark Pearlman

The Sketch Imaginator Google Gem allows the user to use the following to generate a sketch in Nano Banana:

  • Written Prompt
  • Sketch Underlay Image
  • Inspiration Images
  • Brand Colors

The Google Gem sets limits and priorities between the different image types in order to assure that the sketch underlay takes compositional and massing preference over the prompt language and inspirational images.

The Gem is designed to assess the type of uploaded content and relay a list back to the user indicating what it understands the purpose of each image before processing the sketch.

The user then has the ability to select from three distinct sketch styles:

  • Traditional industrial design marker sketch
  • Dark mode sketch on black paper
  • Pencil and Watercolor sketch

The sketch styles were developed with AI. Using sketch reference images, AI analyzed the similarities across the images to develop a “visual language” for each sketch style. These are saved as editable documents so that additional or different sketch styles can be added at any time.
